Overview

One investment of 500,000€ in a qualifying Fund or a direct capitalization of a Portuguese company confers eligibility to apply for residency to three generations.

Eligibility extends to the investor, spouse, children, parents,
in-laws, and other financially dependent family (such as a disabled and/or financially dependent sibling)

One donation of 250,000€ in a qualified cultural project or one 500,000€ donation to a scientific project confers eligibility to apply for residency to three generations.

Minimum stay in Portugal:
14 days/biannually

Biannual periods coincide with the 2 year validity period of each residency card.

U.S. taxes remain applicable for U.S taxpayers.

All applicants are required to have 10 years of temporary residency, counted from the date of issue of the first residency card, before they reach eligibility to apply for Portuguese citizenship.

Applicants must travel to Portugal for biometrics capture. Residency cards are issued thereafter and renewed in two year intervals.

After 5 years of legal residency, candidates are eligible to apply for Permanent Residency.

After 10 years of legal residency, candidates are able to apply for Portuguese citizenship. Application review takes 2-3 years.

There could be a years long delay between application, biometrics capture, and residency card issuance.
